Message from Webmaster
Welcome to the village website which covers the many active groups in the village but is deliberately not attached to any particular group and is run independently by the Webmaster. It is intended to be both a source of information and a place where villagers can express their views and give their opinions about things that affect the village. Many of the pictures shown are taken from the internet but obviously it would be much better if the village groups and local people could supply own photos for display. Also feedback would be appreciate on the website design or content which could help improve the site. It is hoped that you find the website helpful and interesting however the views expressed on this website are not necessarily those of the publishers. Every care is taken to ensure that the website content is accurate and avoids copyright infringements. However if you find any content or images wrong or copyrighted, please inform the webmaster who will remove the material quickly…. Use the box at bottom of page to contact webmaster and insert your email address. Alternatively send comments, photos to :- [email protected] Thank you. Thanks, Webmaster A couple of Technical Tips Gaining access to web site Some viewers have had difficulty in accessing web site when using search engines other than Google. Not sure why this is but looking into it but in the mean time using other search engines work ok if you type, or paste, the website name into File then Open in browser menu at very top of the page. Once gaining access recommend creating a short cut, see below, for one click entry from desktop. Create short cut for future easy access to this Web Site by right clicking on the first page and selecting 'short cut'. An icon will then appear on your PC Desktop for 'one click' easy entry into web site from then on. Enlarged View of web site - Select 'View' on very top menu click 'Zoom' and then '125%'. If you like the bigger screen when you shut down your computer next time and start up again it should remain at larger screen. …………..SCAM ALERT…………… Message from :- Safer Communities Team, Council Headquarters, Newtown St Boswells, TD6 OSA. Tel: 01835 823204 Email: [email protected] Reports have been received from members of the public being cold-called by telephone, where the caller claims to be calling from the Telephone Preference Service (TPS). The caller advises that there have been a lot of nuisance calls in the resident’s area and that they can stop all nuisance calls for a one off payment or a monthly fee which can vary from call to call. For this fee the caller claims to be able to send a ‘device’ that plugs into the telephone socket or attaches to the telephone that will stop nuisance calls. The Telephone Preference Service is a free service and they are aware of these types of scams and other scams where callers claim to be calling from the TPS. Further information can be found on their website. We advise you never provide your personal or bank account details to anybody over the telephone unless you are satisfied that you have verified the caller’s details and that they are genuine. If you’ve received similar calls and think you've been scammed you should report it to Police Scotland or Action Fraud. Police Scotland can be contacted on 101, Action Fraud can be contacted online by visiting their website or via telephone on 0300 123 2040. |
